The City of Harvard became the
51st city in the State to become an Illinois Certified City, April 21,
1992. The Illinois Certified Cities program is designed to help make
Illinois communities the best places for business to expand and/or locate.
The program recognizes that these communities are vital to the stat's
overall economic development. Communities that participate in and complete
the requirements of the program have been given the designation of an
Illinois Certified City. There have been only 51 designations given in the
state of Illinois to date. The Illinois Certified Cities designation
informs the rest of the State and the world that the City of Harvard has
taken steps to aggressively pursue overall economic development. This may
be interpreted by business or industry as an assurance and commitment that
Harvard can provide flexible finance and full service facilities, trained
labor, responsive government and a quality community life for its
employees and their families. The ultimate reward for becoming a Certified
Cities Community relates directly to the community in terms of job
development and retention. |
